    Overlander stuffs up again!

Another inaccurate article on Land Rover in this months edition of Overlander (part of 4x4 Action) magazine.
Apparently the 3 ltr D4 HSE featured has a been chipped with aTunit chip "and the result is 522nm and a handy 158kw" !
And Llams comes from the UK not our mate Graeme in NSW.
"The standard candles upfront have been replaced with a set of Super Vision high and low beam HID lights". I thought an HSE would have had Xenons as standard.
Also no mention of Gordon's 18 inch wheels. Quote: "because of the front brakes, 18" wheels simply don't fit".
Later on in the mag in there 15 best bush tourers article the Defender only gets 2 stars in the aftermarket options and yet the D4 gets 5! The D4 gets 3 stars for economy but the 200 LC gets 4 even though the figures in the magazine's buyers guide show D4 at 8.5/9.3 and LC at a very optimistic 10.3.

I probably won't renew my subscription!

    A couple of things:
1)4WD mag gets it wrong - nothing new
2)Not sure if I want a Tunit chip

The above figures show why i would not want one - has reduced power by around 22kw and torque by about 78nms

I thought the SDV6 3.0l HSE D4 was 183Kw and 680Nm standard with Bi-Xenon headlights, by those figures from the mag, the tunit chip has reduced the performance of the car not improved it.

But even so, the de-tuned TDV6 3.0lt D4 with 155Kw is an SE and the same torque of the SDV6 HSE of 680Nm., so it doesn't make sense and how could they get it that wrong, it's only a simple matter of going to the LR website and looking at the spec sheet for both models, it's in there in black and white as plan as day

Used to be a half decent magazine ................ until the mob who also publish 4WD Action got hold of it.

I have bought one or two editions since the change of ownership - they ended up in the bin. Haven't bothered since.

If you want accurate technical advice on 4WD's (especially Landrover) - you're wasting your time with either of the brand names mentioned above.
    Cheers .........

What would be a good read for accurate technical Land Rover info?

Also by magazine I am sure you all mean magazine apps..? Nothing is printed anymore as far as me and my fellow Gen Y's think.

I bought a 12 month subscription to LRO (Landrover Owner International) a couple of months ago.Think it was about $99.00 or thereabouts.
That has a technical section in it as well as road tests, holidays etc..
Find it better than the local rubbish thats being put out.lol

    cheers
