You must of had a high entry speed into the car?
Weren't trying a dukes of hazard style entry?
Have a nice little egg above the right eye now. Doing a CSI reenactment it also requires coming at the door from behind the car and not at right angles. The door has such little camber and a little tilt almost leans the top of the door further out than base. Needs perfect driver height and timing.
I look forward to welcoming new members to this select club.

Didn't happen to me but happened to my passenger. We had overtaken a truck that we'd been stuck behind. No sooner than we finally got round, we realised we were busting for a wee. Raced ahead, pulled off the road and made a F1 style pit stop. The bank on the side of the country road replicated your up on the kerb scenario exactly. He opened the door in a bit of a harry and nearly knocked himself out.
He still talks about it whenever he is near my car.
I'm posting him a link to this thread, it may help him move on to know others have done it.
Cut my head open on the edge of the tail gate once. Lots of claret all over the joint.
Cheers,
Terry
