2.7 TDV6 Cam Chain Failure

Lots of euro cars use hybrid belt/chain. All of my Audis have used it.

Chains need to be replaced at some point too you know ;)

I'm told there are 2 chains on the cams,and they do need to be changed, but the kilometres when to change differ depend on who who ask.
I've heard 100,000 (K's or Miles, the quote wasn't specific.
Asked a service person who usually knows his stuff around 2.7 and 3L, and he thought it was 160,000k (which might match with the 100,000 (miles perhaps) that I had been told.

Mine has done 130K at present and I'm looking to replace front and rear timing belts/tensioners etc before 150K, and reckon I'll get the chains (and probably cam seals) done at same time.
Does anybody know what the recommended K's is for chain replacement?

You (or who is advising you) are getting the Cam belt and Cam chains mixed up - there is no service interval for the chains - basically use until get rattly or fail.

Cam belts are 7 years or 168,000km whatever is the earliest.

And there are no chains at all on the TDV6.

I think I have a lazy chain tensioner on the RH bank of my 2.7 TDV6 its done 234K km. It rattles for a few seconds after start, and tends to rattle for a while if the car has been standing for a week or so.

Has anybody changed one? Info on any tips tricks time taken greatly appreciated.

RH will be a pita as the chain and tensioner are at the rear of the head, cam needs to removed to get the tensioner out so new seals required as well which means pulleys off as well.
Definitely a DIY proposition if you have the time.
