Hi D.Diddy.
When I was looking for my new D4 I did a lot of research on the web. I started off looking for a new or low km demo SDV6 SE 2013. Ended up getting a new SDV6 HSE. I too wanted more than the standard model - Tech pack for example. I got a feel for the market by looking at sites such as Carsales.com.au, Drive.com.au and Redbook.com.au. There are a couple of other but I can't recall them. The redbook site allows you to select the model you're after and then select the state and shows the base price plus on road costs split up. It has a list of common accessories and their prices as well that you can select to get included in the end price.
You have said you want an SDV6. This indicates either an SE or HSE model not the base model which is called the TDV6. Here is a link to rebook for the SE model.

As you will see the base price is $79225, on road cost is $9376 and dealer delivery is $2995. The on road cost includes stamp duty of $2060, CTP of $712, number plate fee of $33 and finally additional government charges of $6571. This last charge is the federal government Luxury Car Tax (LCT) of 33% for anything over $60316. What this means is that each dollar above the threshold incurs a 33% tax which is why you should get accessories fitted after you have taken delivery unless you can get the dealer to fudge the figures so extras aren't included in the price.
My guess is LR doesn't pay for the LCT and that's why you're not getting near $80,000.
Hope this helps.

Price you should be looking at paying is RRP for on the road.
Play one dealer off against another.
Yeah,
The options really push the price up:(
That's why I ended up getting an HSE instead of an SE. It had everything I wanted and more and the price difference was negligible. Bought mine in November during the run-out sale in October/November last year. It was a factory discount of about $4000 from what I could gather - couldn't nail it down precisely. I paid $95600 and it came fitted with side steps, short roof rails and cross bars as well as digital radio which was included by the dealer without charge as he had quoted on a car from QLD which fell through and ended up getting one from VIC. When I picked it up the dealer had put in a set of LR floor mats front and rear for free as well. I believe that the RRP with on roads at the time was about $106700 without the extra stuff.
Bottom line is that it depends whether your budget can stretch or not but if not you could look at a TDV6 and add some options to it. The motor is less powerful but from what I've heard is still powerful. It's the same motor as the SE and HSE but not "tuned" the same way. Presumably you could get it reprogrammed after the warranty expires and boost the power.
