    Self repairing D3 - genius

both the HDC and the Cruise control slowly became intermittent over the last year.

My intention of course was to get it repaired when appropriate. I have been busy and as they are not essential operations I have postponed.

But Landrover it seems, have built in a self repairing robot into the electrical system, as over the last month or so all operations are 100% operational at every attempt at activation.

Thank you Landrover for including such an innovative (and secret) feature.

I will not mention that they should not have stopped working in the first place - maybe its a seasonal thing - or maybe its a hoax but it surely is the truth.

    joyous D3 owner for sure.

    Steve.

I seem to find myself apologising to my RRS sometimes, oh, no cruise control today? Sorry for bothering you!
I love the self repair feature, a couple if days ago, man-flu, suspension can't possibly go on, it's all too much. Just leave me here to die. Switch engine off, leave self repair system to do it's stuff for 1/2 an hour or so. All good.
    Love it.

    = glitch to begin with.

It seems there is a ghost in the machine.

On a couple of occasions I have had the big F (instead of D for Drive) on the dash with the Transmission Fault. Stop, turn off, restart immediately (don't even give it time to think- its a machine) and all fixed, runs perfectly. the trick is pay it no mind and don't stress - it aint nothing.

To my experience, It doesn't matter what electronic device or what operating system is employed, there are intermittent and random events that cannot be explained rationally.

Most go away with a reboot, phones are a classic for this, nothing works or lags to the max, turn off, turn on, = all better.

Could even be said to come into Humans, Offspring (wifey, or even me)sick or upset... all fixed with a good nights sleep (reboot).

The Marriage of Hardware and embedded Software is always going to be problematic. Software comms only need to miss a byte at it all turns to custard = perhaps the main advantage of the Defender old school approach.

But I do love my D3, its just plain 'new' fashioned exciting. Driving it is like watching a bitcoin chart.

The problem with bells and whistles is they are all electronic and no longer made with Brass and steam driven Steel flutes like they were on the last steam engine I drove (I wish) .. come to think of it, why don't defenders have these so they can coin the phrase too.

My mate has an awesome Defer 90 with a twisted kit - I should get him one of each for chrissie.
