    OFF ROAD HEIGHT AS STANDARD FOR D4

    Wondering if anyone has fitted the GOE rods to their D4, so it's always in off road height along with wheel alignment to suit?

    Don't see the need to always have it on off road height. Only move it across to off road when I might need it and that isn't on the bitumen so wheel alignment isn't that critical. Really is only 5 seconds per wheel to switch them across from +50 to normal to +50. I keep a cutoff piece of poly tarp to lay over the top of the tyre so I don't get dirty doing it.

    Why would you leave them at that height all the time - will certainly increase CV wear - I do not have rods as I use LLAMS but my understanding is that once they are installed it only takes a few seconds to change the rods on each wheel so drive around normally at onroad height and when heading offroad spend a minute or two and set them to offroad height.

    Never had a problem with the cv's on the Prado with a 2 inch lift so I wouldn't have thought this is a problem. Also find the standard road height alittle low, real concern when we can't avoid a dead roo in the middle of the road plus you feel small when a 4x4 pulls on next to you at the lights looking down.

    So has anyone just done this set and forget option?

    You certainly could have a wheel alignment set at the higher ride height.
    The bottom line is you will wear the CVs out faster....and that's with all lifted vehicles. The angles are all different so it stands to reason it will shorten the life, regardless of the vehicle.
    With all 50mm lifts on independent vehicles the people that do these, will tell you that CV life will be reduced. It may only be 10%, it may be more....but there will be a difference. Offroading (serious) CVs break more easily with a lift.
    I only have a problem with people looking down on me, is with those that have a decent lift...generally more than 50mm, and have much bigger tyres.
    I suppose you need to work out what is more important, lower ride height with better economy and better handling, or higher ride height with not as good economy or handling just so Nissotas with 35s and 3-4 inches of lift don't intimidate you.
    I actually set my LLAMS at -20 for the lower ride height....virtually no difference in wheel alignment at this level so am happy. 50mm lift does make a difference to the alignment.
    You would certainly need more than +50mm to ride over a roo without hitting the bottom of your car.....best to take action and swing around, with greater handling and let the electronics keep you safe. Those with the bigger lifts would probably end up on their side at best.

    Maybe you won't have an issue but for the sake of a couple of minutes work why risk it?

    Or do you want the pose value of looking like a lifted japper. I drive mine around at onroad -20mm and have no issues - got a few comments from some jappers once about my clearance and then watched their jaws drop when I lifted up to offroad height +50mm.

    I don't like the idea of falling out the door from off-road height, especially as I basically did that from my truck a few nights ago although that was considerably higher. The fall didn't smart but the instant stop did!

    I think there are a number of people around here who do it in order to run larger tyres.

    I don't like the idea of explaining it all to the insurance company in the event of an accident.

    I have Llams but I only use it offroad.

    The reality is that a lot of guys with S models run a 50mm (2 inch lift) on their coilers and I haven't heard of any issues.
    If you want run it raised 50mm all the time that is your choice. Just be aware that it causes higher wear on some components, can effect the vehicles handling and you will get a harsher ride.
    For me the harsh ride would be a show stopper.
