I will have to measure the spare and the road wheels for new vs now depth.
I'd be surprised if I don't get a further usable 25k out of them at this rate... (I ditch tyres at 5-6mm tread)
And yes - very impressive tyre...

Thanks for the input. I agree about lower tyre pressures and suspect that is why my main problem has been side wall damage. The tread area has been good. I had wondered if I had been too low pressure on rocky tracks but the grip is much better when the type conforms to the rocks.
Looks like the Bridgestone light truck is a good bet. There is a larger diameter BFG LT (still for 18 inch rim) that has been recommended by someone who has not owned a set. Any comments on the BFG?
Gotta be happy with that. I'm pretty much the same with ditching tyres and I don't think I've had anything better than about 40k on the D3. The Zeons on the D4 (first set) are at 30k now and looking tired - think I'll get 40k from them. Must admit I've been impressed with them though.
Cheers,
Jon
Yeah, that's why I don't like going too low. A bulging sidewall is more susceptible to damage from rocks etc, which becomes more of a problem at higher speeds. Of course the stiffer the sidewall the lower you can go with less bulge and the slower you go the more bulge you can get away with. For example, the rally tyres we use can be dead flat and still have straight sidewalls.
Really, there are so many variables, I think you can only use what other people say as a guide. To me, you can feel when a tyre is at the right pressure for the conditions and that's the best way to set them.
Cheers,
Jon
