According to Akebono website, D3 4.0 litre V6 and 4.4 litre V8 have the same brakes front & rear as the D3 2.7 litre diesel.

All use part #PEUR 1098 pads on front wheels, and #PEUR 1099 pads on rear wheels.

2.7 litre TDV6 diesel D4 (such as mine) uses same pads as above.

3.0 litre TDV6 and SDV6 D4 uses #PEUR 1099 pads on rear wheels, but no pads listed for front wheels.

3.0 litre Supercharged V6 (I assume petrol engine) and 5.0 litre V8 D4's - no pads listed for either front or rear wheels.

Just spoke to the Australian distributor. He would love to sell them but the market is just too small.
The parent company insists on large number of units in USA market before triggering a manufacturing run and that hurdle has not been reached. Same issue with VW Toureg apparently.

Bendix advertises a disc pad using Ceramic Technology, and lists parts for 3.0 litre Disco 4's (well at least up to 2012 - don't know if they will fit latest models or not). Haven't heard any feedback on how these perform / compare with Akebono.

But - many years ago in a past life - I was a brake mechanic and workshop supervisor of a brake specialist in Adelaide. We dealt exclusively in Bendix brake lining products at the time, and they were recognized universally as being one of the best on the market. I would probably give them a go myself if I could not get the Akebono products for my vehicle. In fact, we're looking at Bendix pads for my young bloke's Amarok as there are no Akebono pads listed for his model at the moment.

Had mine in for years now, it's like once you put them in forget about the brakes! (Apart from the silly handbrake adjustment)

Don't wear out either the pads or discs!

That's because Akebono use adhesion technology, and the others use abrasion. There are a few that advertise they have ceramic pads, but don't tell you how much. ( ceramic ) The basic Akebono compounds are Kevlar, Ceramic, and Copper. ( and they don't give away how much is ceramic either )

Sounds amazing a modern day manufacturer would make something that does not wear out! Rule 1 of manufacturing.

5 weeks now since I washed the car after changing the discs and pads and wheels still look just washed! The slightest bit of dust can be seen if you wipe your finger on the wheel.

Seems too good to be true as I truly dreaded the wheel clean component of washing the car. Wheels would be black again within a week.

Yep - I had forgotten how bad my wheels used to get - until my young bloke pulls up in the back yard in his Amarok. If anything, I think his wheels get even dirtier than the Disco did.

A warning for anybody considering these. Just bought a set of front pads, part no. DB2073. They don't fit my MY11 SDV6 D4 fitted with TRW callipers. Fitted pads are shown in the photo on the left, Bendix DB2073 pads are on the right.

The box the Bendix DB2073 pads are supplied in is actually stamped as suitable for Range Rover 2007 sport but no idea if they fit a RR sport.

Rear bendix pads, part No DB1781 fit OK.
