    D3 Front Diff replacement

Evening all a quick question. I have to replace my front diff, ideally before January 2, when I drive to Sydney. Based in Brisbane I was wondering how much should I be looking at paying and does anyone know a good place that can do it in time. Have spoken with Knight's and they will be shut from Friday so can't get it done. Any advice gratefully received.

Did you try British Off Road at Forest Glen ?
They quoted about 4 hours for mine but I elected to do it myself as I live to far away which took a little longer than that. (6 hours work )

$1700 for the new diff, could have got reco diff for $1500 but elected for new one, I am sure that there was not too much wrong with old one.
Once I had the noise I was already commited to go to Land Cruiser Mountain Park towing my caravan almost 3 ton 1200km round trip so put 1/2 Lucas oil stabilizer 1/2 normal oil and it made diff a lot quiter and had no noise at all while towing and doing 4x4 trails. Was a bit noisier when I removed the van at home.
But had produced very little extra metal.
Do wonder if I should be running lucas product in diff all the time as only .6 l of oil in there which does not seem enough.
Also took a few weeks still driving and towing when I got home to find time to replace it.
Will pull it apart sometime next year and see what is wrong with it assume that is only an output bearing as noise was constant with speed and not there with van on (can not explain this)
Bought from indy in South Australia.

Thanks everyone for your advice. As suggested unable to get it done in time so it is sitting at Knights over the holidays 😢😢😢. At least it will be ready when I get home. Have a safe Christmas and happy adventuring to all.

    Cheers

    Dom
