Yeh I see what you're saying but each to their own, horses for courses etc.

I'm a Landrover tragic (since birth, born into it) but don't mind saying it'll be a well setup rig, just won't admit it to him

I mean no harm to anyone involved in the previous threads I didn't agree with some of gordans comments but I purchase his goods and respect his opinion none the less. I'm not trying to prod the fire again but that's my opinion of what you get when you go against the stream

What people want is safe, proven, reliable products.

The power upgrade they quoted is way beyond the final result.

Also on other forums peoples experiences have proven troublesome and in other instances suffered damage.

As a diesel mech you should be aware of just what is needed to get more from a Diesel engine.
Fuel + boost = power. Now factor in limitations of design and operating tolerances.

Tuners around the world with far more experience aren't pushing this hard for a damn good reason! And they operate in much nicer environments conducive to higher performance.

If people want to buy a bargain priced piece of camping gear etc from them then that's their choice/budget..

But to risk a $15-20k engine on a tune from a place with so much contradictory data in way of reliability etc could prove to be false economy.

It's very different to buy a vehicle, whack out a pile of products and then move on to the next as opposed to living with and owning the vehicle for its entire early lifetime.

    Well put Sean.

What's not so easy is to apply many year's of experience to critically analyse the claims that these companies make, which is what I saw happening. You asked a question, you got some answers from various people, some of whom I know to have plenty of knowledge in this area. I am no expert but I have been involved with modifying and tuning engines long enough now to be cautious of any claims made anyone trying to sell a product such as this.

It is very easy to increase power from a standard production engine, but it always comes at a cost - be it emissions, fuel consumption, driveability, reliability or simply poor value for money. By critically analysing the claims these companies make you can then decide if the benefit outweighs the cost - to me they don't.

If you see that as slagging, then I'm sorry. Its your money, if you want to spend it that way then go for it - but, caveat emptor.

    Cheers,
    Jon

Mike, you have been saying way too many things that I agree with lately. This has to stop.

LR have already produced a more powerful remap on this engine for the FFRR.

Do you know it is the same engine?
There may well be greater cooling capacity and/or different lubrication systems/capacity or other tweaks to handle the greater load.
