Gday folks :BigThumb:
Turns out that D3 was actually a 2008 se and as far as "dropping a valve" goes . . . lets just say it was by no means an accurate description of the problems with the 4.0 V6.
I purchased it sight unseen from the opposite side of Australia, then i spent 3 months going through it from front to back.
I paid 10k for it, which i believe to be reasonable. Its just lucky i had the aptitude and resources to do all the labor myself.
She's my 1st Land Rover and needles to say i got extremely up close and personal and at times even intimate throughout the repairs...
Valve train, fwd and aft timing chains, (which is engine out and NOT body off on the petrol V6) Multiple ECU's corroded, EPB repair, EAS system overhaul, hours upon hours of research made this all possible.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Cheers. Joel

Excellent to hear you got the D3 up and running Joel. The old bloke I brought the brand new wheel guard flares and sill plastic panels for my D3 from about two years ago had a brand new V6 D3 petrol engine sitting in the box.
He still might have it if he is still around, his business did the launch of the D3 in Australia in 2005 and he was given by LR masses of parts in case there were any major problems or crashes. If I remember right most of the brand new engines he was given he gave to the local TAFE so they could pull them apart.
Great to hear the story had an ending.
Sounds like they played in water with it.
