where are the D4 Nav threads?

I've been frustrated by LRA Customer Care (ha!) trying to get an answer when an update will be available for the 2010-2012 factory SatNav. Currently only Version 18 is available but Version 20 has been released for 2013+. They are adamant that it is up to WhereIs to release the update and has nothing to do with LR. The dealer tells me that there is a rights issue for the IP and the two parties can't come to an agreement. Conversation with LRA Customer Care was appalling! Apparently the UK owner forums have discussed updating the firmware of the earlier units to 2013+ functionality. Haven't see anything on it recently.

I'm tempted to pull the hard drive out to see what file system and format the maps are in.

Is it possible to run an after market Sat Nav through the factory 7" screen, or is it a case of factory Nav only?
