I asked our Landrover saleslady about them, and she said, & I quote, "The V8 Discovery goes like the clappers"!.....Nothing like a V8 IMHO..(No substitute for cubic inches, or as they say these days, no replacement for displacement?) I realize these statements normally relate to "normal" cars ( I've had LOTS of V8s, the last being an AMG C63), so how do you like your "V8"?

I have a D3 V8, so have to make do with a mere 225Kw and a paltry 430nm or so of torques ... it's an awesome motor and (to me) it really suits the car ... typical modern multicam/multivalve V8 motor, does what you want it to do in a lazy way until you give it the boot ... then it goes like stink (well, for a 2.7T vehicle ... :eek:) ... I am a V8 whore from way back ... no plans to part with it ! :D

That sounds like past tense, did you get rid of the AMG ... how did those Conti's go?

Yes, we don't have the C63 any more, the Contis were pretty good, .....at least as good as the Yokohamas that were on it previously.

I ended up putting Kumho KU39s on my wife's Merc. I knew nothing about these tyres so was a bit dubious but they had good reviews. I'm very impressed and they are considerably cheaper than the Conti Sports.

Admittedly the C250 CDI has nowhere near the grunt of a G63 but with 510 torques, it's pretty hard on rear tyres. I found them as quiet as the Contis (if not better) and a better, more direct/stable drive. They don't appear to have any grip issues in the wet or dry either.

But the main thing, they are not wearing anywhere near as quickly as the Contis. I recently even got Mercedes to admit that some AMG owners are lucky to get 10K out of their tyres.
