Well, I am another one to has to pull out. It's the reason I haven't been piping up thus far. I have been trying to negotiate with the better half for myself and Max to do this (was OK when I initially said I was coming) but it seems that for my birthday, I must do what others want to do. Apparently it's not about me.
I am missing the event already! I was really looking forward to catching up with you lot. What a bugger is all I can say - sorry.
Sad to hear that Sean, I'm looking forward to putting some faces to the names in here..... maybe next time!
And by the way... on your birthday.. you are going to have a good time whether you like it or NOT! :p
Just updated the list and at present even with the withdrawels tajken out there are still so far 30 confirmed and 2 possibles.
so we are still looking like we will have a very healthy sized group for the couple of days of camping and 4wding.
Ok who is looking forward to the get together?
Saturday looks to be warm with a max of 29 and a min of 10 degrees.
Seems to be a small chance of a shower on Friday and Sat - next to nothing.
No chance of SNOW!!!!
See you guys up there Friday evening. ;)
:arms:
Should get there late Saturday afternoon, 4 or 5 I guess.
Definitely looking forward to it.
If it rains Friday, group 2 will need to find an alternative or we just suck it and see.
This is the steepest track we did, but only just, it is red clay as you can see, now it wasn't that slippery on the day for us being the first car, but Rob and Ness with muds on struggled, rob got a bit sideways and we had to winch Ness up.
You'll notice the ruts, you need to sit in them.

The track before this is steep and if wet may be a worse problem, as it is a big single rut in a half moon shape, slide down either side and you're gunna be in trouble.
I'll load the video tonight.
If it is the way it was on the day Rob Ness and I did it, it should be OK.
The last track of the day is Heartbreak(time permitting) some may have done this track and know what it's like, those from Vic don't get to see this type of track very often.

Baz.
Looks like fun.. I might drop back to group 1 however as I only have old road tyres and may not manage some of those slopes... But then again..........
Fingers crossed for the weather.. :-)
Daryl
don't mind a challenge, just not into damage.. so hopefully group 2 will not be going totally OTT
I can assure you we will not be going OTT, last thing anyone wants is damage, especially me.
OK here it is, now bear in mind, we had ATs when we did this, so if the weather holds out, even ATs will be fine.
Us going down

I don't want to put people off, these tracks are not over the top and can be done easily enough in a standard 4WD, they are in some places technical and do require good wheel placement, that will be covered by some of the members with experience on the trip.
I have put these up to give you an idea of what the tracks look like.
Also there are places we go by that some of the more adventurous can have a go at, one track in particular that I went down, Rob and Ness didn't on our recommendation, that we crossed off the list, would be a challenge to get up.
Baz.
