I'm with both you guys on this, the sport mode helped keep the revs higher. It does say in the manual not to labour the engine during first 4000km (as well as avoid towing).
I found on some occasions in normal sedate 'D' mode, the downshift was slow in coming and I'd blip the throttle to force it some times, but 'S' (serious driving :D mode) ensured the power plant and gearbox were in perfect sync ready for twin turbo torque takeoff ... Or engine assisted anchors out brake assit.
Sometimes I'd forget (still do) that I'm in 2500kg of metal with a Diesel engine :burnrubber: I'm sure this vehicle has more poke than my old Calais with its 357 Gen III :unsure:
