What have I done and how do I fix it?

Enjoying a week at Barn Hill Station. A little bored so decided to do a little maintenance on the 2009 D3 2.7td. Lifted the bonnet noticed a bit of corrosion on the neg battery terminal. Hit it with a jug of hot water. I thought I had done OK. Then i started to rotate the wheels from front to back. Put the vehicle in off road extension and hand brake on. Using the bottle jack off come drivers side front tyre. Using the hi lift on the mitch hitch up comes the rear. And thats when I realised I should have followed the rule book and used the suggested lifting zones. I immediately stopped had to put a block of wood under the passenger rear side tortion assembly to stabilise. I managed to get original wheels back on hubs. Have a cuppa before attempting to start. And when I did the whistles, bells and light show started. Park brake buzzers, HDC fault, transmission fault. Vehicle locked in low height mode, Systems fault terrain response systems not available.

I have left the vehicle overnight hoping it will reset. NO
I have disconnected the battery hoping it will reset. NO

I can still drive the vehicle at reduced height, but lights and messages are driving me mad. And to make things worse we have to leave Barn Hill in a day of two towing a monstrous 24 foot traveller van.

Please, constructive advice and criticism urgently needed.
Information as to the closest reputable rover dealer would also be welcome.

    Regards,

    Balanda Chris

I know what you have done, when you pored water on the terminal, water has gone down behind the battery and wet the tranfer case ECU.

If the hard re-set doesn't work, you may need to remove the battery and dry out the Transfer case ECU.

A hard re-set is disconnect both battery terminals, touch them together then re-fit them.

Oh and if you have a second battery, disconnect that before you do the hard re-set.

    Cheers Baz.

Is this it...? A couple of links to follow at the bottom as well.
    From here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...cks-doors.html

    Hard Reset Instructions

In brief, to start the hard reset process, open the hood but close all doors and let your 3 go to sleep - no radio display etc and no key in the ignition. This will take a couple of minutes and do not open any doors until the reset is completed. (I find that it is often a good idea to have the drivers door window rolled down and the key in my pocket whenever fooling about the vehicle.) Also when I play with a car battery, I remove any rings I have from my fingers; also my watch.

Disconnect the ground battery terminal from the main starting battery.
Disconnect the positive battery terminal from the main starting battery.

The reason for this order is if a wrench or loose battery cable ends grounds to the body, no arcing or other bad things happen.

(I assume that you only have one battery in your 3. If not, disconnect the others as well and leave them disconnected until after all is done.)

Connect the negative cable to the positive cable. (NOT the battery.) You will need a short length, (a foot or so), of light gauge, (14 to 18 gauge AWG, insulated stranded copper), wire to span between the battery cable ends as there is not enough slack in the positive and negative battery cables for the ends to touch each other.

Hold all together for about a minute or more, (at least two minutes), as you are discharging memory modules within the engine computer and elsewhere. Then it is suggested you then just let all sit disconnected for say ten minutes, (minimum five minutes), prior to commencing to put the battery cable ends back on the battery posts per the following order.

Reattach positive terminal to the main starting battery positive post.
Reattach negative terminal to the main starting battery negative post.

Start engine and hopefully no or fewer warning lights.
Reset time on the radio - note that the station presets are still there as not everything is erased. Nothing much else needs resetting either.

You can now connect up the other batteries if you have a multiple battery setup.

If you have an Aux battery system - don't forget to disconnect that negative terminal as well - Don't want back feed

I did the exact same thing a couple of years ago and it did not end well ended up having to replace the ecu about$550 due to water making its way into it I would suggest going straight to the ecu and pulling it out and getting it dry as soon as possible then replace it and do a hard reset. Your location is not idea especially with all those sandy speed humps on the way to the main road. Best bet is to start looking around broome.
