I've used this guy High performance rotors and clutches // RapidRS.com.au a few times in the past and been more than happy with his rotors.
He is pretty honest and says near all rotors sold in Australia come from China but they very often get finishes in Australia. Basically he gets a pallet of blank rotors from China then machines them up to suit what ever vehicle. He can do slots and dimples or just one and not the other. He can anodize them in gold or leave them plan. Then he can do a few different slots, curved or straight. Pretty much whatever you want.
I know a few guys who track (race) there cars use these rotors because they are cheap and they are just as good as any other availble in Australia. They are all the same steal, it's just the finishing that varies.
Of interest. I've noticed that rotors are far more consumable these days. I remember old cars that I'd change several sets of pads but never a rotor. These days pads seem to be far more agressive. I changed a set of rotors every time I changed pads on my WRX. I managed to change 3 sets in 160,00km.
Something else I've noticed. Not so many years ago, you would see race cars at night with rotors glowing bright red. These days you don't see them glowing but sparks flying out of the wheels as the rotors are ground away.
Thing have changed.
Happy Days
