called dynamic (assuming i had the right 'dynamic' - rowville, yeah?) and they dont have anything that fits a D4 (according to them)
Firstly, your D4 needs to be the 2.7l and not the 3.0l, also the centre hole needs to be the same as the D4 wheels, 73.? and also the wheel nuts(factory or aftermarket) need to turn a minimum of 8 turns when fitting the wheel to the car, as far as I'm aware, there is only 1 manufacturer that I know of that do an alloy 17" rim for the D3/D4/RRS, that is suitable.

Performance wheels, they do the BB-6 and one other JX5?? that is suitable, give Performance a ring, they are very good to deal with and back their product 100%.

Dynamic only do a steel rim for the D4, don't go steel, heavier for a start.

I have been looking into 17 inch wheels too and found some interesting things re the weight.
From what I have been able to find out the BB6 alloys are 12.5kg each.
When I contacted Dynamic they told me their 17 inch D3/D4 wheel weighed 14kg each. Unless they have given me the wrong information there doesn't seem to be a major difference in weight which would have to be one of the main benefits in the alloy over steel debate.
There is a fairly major difference though in price so on the info I have I give the vote to the steelies. Look tougher too...

You have a photo my silver D3 with 265 70 17 MTZ's.
Never rubbed & you saw some of the terrain it went on
Did have to zip tie front left guard liner closer to the chassis near the brake lines.
Used to catch going in reverse on hard lock.
BB6 rims were specifically designed for D3 early ones cracked but were replaced under warranty.

I have a set of 17" Dynamics on my trailer and they seem much heavier than the OEM alloys.
Got 5 for $100 of eBay many years ago.

Thanks Dave, sounds like the Bb6 rims are the best way to go. Especially since the ones that are for sale in the Market place come off a 2.7 D4 so you know they will fit.
Daniel, I have been out on many trips with Chuck (Dave) and his wheels were great, I didn't realise they were BB6. I'm away at the moment but will see if I have some pics on Flickr of his Disco.
