If so , couldn't you just get some nylon small diameter tube or similar and take a reading when full and go from there?

Mine appears when the engine reaches running temperature. Never before.
The irony is it appeared after a service. My immediate thought was that mechanics had put too much oil in or not enough. The sensor read that oil level was full!!
When I start the car from cold the next day there is no fault showing.
It stays on now but early in the fault code appearance once the car got to running temperature the fault would disappear for a few minutes and then reappear.
After reading the previous discussion has any discovered any enlightenment on the cause and the fix other than replacing the sensor?
