Can't say I have ever noticed a problem with the D4 mirror adjustment range.
Are you particularly tall or short which might lead to an unusual seating position?
I have this problem on my current Freelander 2 HSE and noticed the same thing when I tested a D4.
I can't adjust the drivers side mirror out far enough. It has far too much in-board range and not enough out-board.
Is there a way to say manually move the mirror to get more out-board range? I was thinking if there were some notched that allow rough positioning of the mirror to get the range balance correct.
In both cases they are folding mirrors, while my new car being a standard TDV6 does not have folders. Which is a real shame. I love the fact that O can see at a distance whether the car is locked or not by checking the mirrors.

No, I am particularly average I think, 177cm so on the shorter side I guess.
I tend to sit quite upright due to a back injury, with the seat base a little forward and slightly tilted back (high in the front).
It just needs slightly more out board adjustment to be right. I did check and there is nor more out-board movement manually.
Just my abnormal dimensions I suppose.
Thanks for the advice.

A couple of things to try.
My D2 had mirrors that could be gently banged without folding in completely,is the mirror you are talking about clicked out into its correct position.
On my POS rodeo work ute there is some sort of protecton for the mirrors.if they get folded in sometimes the mirror wont fully adjust. If one GENTLY manually shifts the mirror glass where it needs to go it clicks as you do so.You have then got futher electric adjustment.
Havent tried this on the D2 or D4,they have plenty of adjustment.

Im 176cm and and sit with the back fairly straight up and down and dont seem to have any problem with the mirrors saying that i do have a HSE with the folding mirrors although i doubt that changes to much with them. But each to their own and it may not suit everyone!
Cheers all. My HSE Freelander has folding Mirrors, just like yours Nat.
I also tried Landyandy's suggestion. The mirror inside the housing is at max.
It is not such a big deal, it is not like it is unusable I would have just like another couple of degrees. I have become a nana. My previous car was a Defender and I could manually set them any way i liked ;-)
All this sophistication results in having silly expectations or wants I guess.
Cheers, All.
One other possible issue is that the mirror may have come partially unseated. My pass side mirror (D4, HSE) recently fell out (in carpark, caught midflight by stunning 1st slip catch...); anyway, I found a very useful utube video of how to replace a LR mirror. They have (4 I think) clips that hold the mirror in place, and I had noticed vibration but didnt think anything of it. The video showed how to simply connect it back (pressure by hand in the right places) and it then sat properly in the shell, which it has never done previously. Clearly, had never been properly in place OEM. After getting it clicked in placed on all (4?) clips, then can manually overide the motor, gently, to get it roughly right, then fine tune electrically. Might be worth a look. Search for 'how to replace LR discovery external mirror'.
