Andy. That bar looks awesome!
Hey all
I have been looking for a bar for my disco for a bit but I havent been able to find one that I like. I had one of the ARB Sahara bars on my Hilux and I really like the look of that but I find all the other bars on the market look too chunky for my liking.
I did talk to a custom 4x4 guy in Brisbane Buds Customs and he said he would be able to make a bar for the discos, one that is similar design to what he does on his FJ crusiers. It doesnt have light loops but that is what I like about it and it is winch capable.

Here is a link to what the bar looks like, Id like to get one but there are a few other mods that I would like first.
I like the look of that, I think the lack of top loops really suit the D3/4. I would certainly go for something like these if I could get one

A question if I may...
To those looking for a blade only bar.. To what purpose?
Somewhere to winch from?
I ask genuinely out of curiosity as there is little to no improvement in approach angles over the stock vehicle bumper and little to no protection for the critical components of the engine in an impact with anything over 2 foot high.
Is it just aesthetics?
Your probably right! I don't really like to look of any of the bars but I do like the look of the "blade" style bars. Given your comments about effectiveness though, it probably means they are not a realistic option for me. If I had a lazy few grand, I would have to prioritise GOE's 18" rims.
Somewhere to bolt a winch in yes - but that applies to any bar I would buy really.
Approach angles - I think any bar would improve the approach angles directly in front of the wheel over the standard bumper, maybe not so much between the chassis rails however. But I do prefer to have steel at the front and rear for off road work.
Agree that theres less protection, no argument
Aestheticss - yep I reckon they look better - but I think that may be due to the fact I see more D3/4's running around without bars than with them as a ratio compared to other models of 4x4. So I think its just a look thats more common with the later discos
Yes there is a parking sensors version, they asked me did I have them when I ordered the bar.
Andrew
Im looking for something to winch off and a little more frontal protection as little as they will allow that is.
