One may wish to consider ceramic brake pads at the next install.
I installed Akebono pads a couple of years back; now there is effectively no dust to clean up. I think the ceramics work as well as the factory pads - they feel a bit different, but my 3 still seems to stop as required.
I'm working myself up towards doing pads and rotors on mine ... would be interested in what Dougal has asked ... also, are the ceramic pads noisy and what rotors are you using ?
I checked the dates etc and felt the rotors today.
I installed new solid vented OEM rotors and the Akebono ceramic pads in October of 2012 at 147,000 km.
I now have 198,000 km on the 3 so that works out to about 50,000 km (30,000 miles) over two years.
I can feel a slight ridge on the perimeter of the rotors of less than a millimetre.
The pad wear is probably 1 mm on the fronts and less than 2 mm on the rears.
There is effectively no dust but then there has not been that much wear either.
My driving is mostly City pavement but I down shift the majority of the time.
hey i reckon the black rims look great !!!
I will look into the plasti dip :D
