I just released the plunger of my new spare as though it was rotated to finalise fitment then reset it then repeated the process several times.
With light pressure applied to the end of the plunger, push both rotated (black) tabs at the same time back to re-align with the overhanging tabs. Pushing 1 provided more resistance than what I was prepared to push, whereas pushing both at the same time moved quite readily.
