This link shows recall on Disco fuel pumps, with VIN numbers
last pump recall issued 2009
Car Recalls : car recall search results - The AA
I checked with WA dealer who sold and serviced my car until 2011.
They tell me that pumps on a recall list (certain VIN numbers range), [B]would have all been replaced as they returned for service.
They also mentioned that they only replaced 3 pumps (mine was not one of them), which suggests that either not many returned for services or that dealer was selective about replacing the "recalled' pumps.
When is a recall not a recall....when it suits them.
Am now looking for a pump also.

I'm finally getting round to fixing this (see posts below).
FYI, Barbagallos, one of the two local LR stealers in Perth, just re-quoted me $3,790 for the job, of which parts were $3118. The fuel pump was $2434 of that. I'm waiting for a delivered quote from a couple of UK sources (thanks Vernon), but I've done some research of my own and discovered that the OEM manufacturer to LR is VDO Siemens. I can source an OEM Siemens pump from United Fuel Injection P/L in Perth (Great Eastern Highway, Redclifffe, just near the airport) for $995. For those of you unlucky enough not to be Sandgropers, they even offer free shipping within Oz.
Parts required are: pump - LR017367 plus: belt - LR 019115 ($297), and the right and left fuel pipes - LR 004715 andLR004714 ($49) respectively - $s per Barbagallos quote.
On the recall topic, I contacted LR Australia and they confirmed that the recall was on the high pressure pump, which is a different part. This is the low pressure one.
Hope that helps. Its still going to be a shed load of cash to fix ...
