    I am another Iidtool owner. I have the Bluetooth version.
    When you first use the device it copies and stores all the data so that if you screw it up you should be able to restore and start over.

    Adjustment and resets fault reading can be done with cruise control buttons, the radio buttons and/or by Bluetooth connection to a phone or tablet.

    I have saved a few suspension configurations to the memory on the device. Provided the doors are shut and the engine running the car can be reconfigured with a similar effect as changing suspension rods. Very easy. Impresses the spectators if done from the phone when outside the car.

    Chalk up another IIDTool vote.......the Bluetooth version. I got mine in April, ordered direct from lrdirect, $629.23 which was half the cost of the Aust importer. Now, I am all for supporting local business but $1250 is a bit rich.

    The IIDTool is great, easy to use and set up. Coming back from Darwin, towing the van (3.2t) was monitoring auto oil temps, engine torque, gear selection, eng air temps and a couple of other things. You can write a data file and download it. I was interested in the fact that the D4 seems to spend more time in 7th than in 8th at 95 kph so I was watching temps and torque and playing around with speed to look for a sweet spot that would hold top. No success but I will keep playing. I have yet to set up the EAS user heights, but I think they will work well as long as you don't need to change things frequently. The unit when plugged in to the On Board Diagnostic (OBD) port fouls the foot a bit when going from accelerator to brake, I am going to look into a minor relocation of the OBD port or an extension cable. The process of writing to the Car Configuration File (CCF) is a bit lengthy with lots of re-boots but it is OK once you have done it once. I tried to change the correction value for the trip computer, found it made little difference to the error, still seems to read 1.5 l/100 low. Also tried to turn on Daytime Running Lights (DRL) but it seems my 13MY HSE does not have the hardware to support DRL. It's fun checking it all out, well worth the $ and your time investment to understand how to use it.

    Just to show some balance, I bought the Nanocom Evo on the initial group buy. I've used it a few times now, to put D4 into tight tolerance mode before wheel alignment and back to normal afterwards. I've also twice removed the adaptations from auto after changing ATF. Then there are the reading and removal of fault codes.

    IID looks easier to use, but after the discount - it was also more expensive. So I voted with my wallet!

    Both the Nanocom and IID tool obviously do a good job but is one better than the other? Or do they both do the same job?

    TerryO I believe that they do in fact do roughly the same thing, but one is a lot cheaper than the other, tick tick tick cause the current group buy is about to end. I really want the IID TOOL but I may settle for the Nanocom as the price is really good. Really I will use it 3-4 times and then it will just sit in the glovebox and only be used if the car throws a code, touch wood that has't happened yet. The decision should be made on what you WILL do with it not what you think you MIGHT do with it.

    I enjoyed that link for a whole other reason, tayaste

    We have the Faultmate MSV-2, works really well, a lot more expensive though, also has a lot more software addons available too, when we originally got it, we thought we were getting the multi vehicle licence, but it turned out we didn't, but it's fine, we have only tried to use it on another vehicle once in the 4 years we have had it anyway.

    Terry, Baz has reminded me of an important point, I understand the IID BT tool is VIN locked where as the nanocom is not. With the number of vehicles you have the nanocom might be best.

    Hi Sean,

    I have actually sold the D2a so down to just three, I have a Hawkeye for the D3 so that's more than covered. That is why I am looking at what tool to get for the D4. But chances are in the near future we will end up with two D4's so yes more than likely a NanoCom is the go. I have asked Colin if they work with the V8, once he answers I will decide.
