Differences between the D3 SE and HSE?

Looked at a 2nd hand D3 HSE today and seems like a good deal for the HSE, but I'm trying to work out if we're better with an SE or HSE and I can't find anything that actually outlines the difference. I noticed that the kerb weight of the HSE is more than 300 kg higher than the SE, so the payload is only 512 kg instead of over 800 kg. Some reviews list a few of the differences eg leather seats, rear air-con, but I wouldn't have thought that accounted for such a big difference in weight! I'm wondering what that extra 300+ kg is used on and is it stuff we actually want, or would we be better with the extra payload?

Does anyone have a list of the key differences between the models?

    Thanks in advance.

Differences between the D3 SE and HSE?

Pretty sure one difference is the stereo and nav system. More basic system is on the SE.

Weight difference could be the electric motors and associated mechanisms in the seats (I know they are V heavy, but don't know how much heavier!)

Also, I believe SE's could be coil sprung and not air bags. Air bag systems are probably heavier by the time you get the compressor, pipework & bag protectors thrown on the car.

I'm guessing lots of little bits here and there add upto 300kg!
    Regards,
    Jon

Differences between the D3 SE and HSE?

Main differences are xenon lights, leather memory seats, rear air, optional logic7 system, optional nav and other niceties which won't be fitted to all HSEs.

All SE models have air suspension only the S came with coils (and air as an option).

    It's a very heavy E !

Real question - What model year and engine ?

It's a 2007 diesel. I compared to another similar era diesel HSE and was the same. The SE weight I got from a couple of similar era diesels, they varied a bit but not much. I guess a bit herr and there adds up faster than you realise! I suppose leather instead of cloth could actually be quite a weight difference across 8 seats too. I think we'll wait for a SE as while a few of the extras would be nice to have, we need the payload more.

Look at an 09 SE spec, because they were run out models the SE had a lot of what was only HSE stuff.
The SE had leather but not electric seat, better stereo but not the top one & a couple of other things.
I know rear air was still an option & so was RSE.
When we bought ours we looked at a HSE & it was cheaper to option an SE up with rear air & RSE.

The optional sunroof adds a fair amount of weight too if fitted😉
