Air suspension air filter

Ok, finally had time to attempt this today, but cannot remove the vent behind the rear light cluster. Seems to be clipped in at four points on the rear but no way to release the clips and a good amount of force on the vent cannot dislodge it from the body of the vehicle.

what is the secret?

Ok, figured it out [bigsmile1]. The vent has four clips as seen below. You need to compress / pull the vent sideways and they will release. Do all four and it slides out giving access to release the suspension air filter from its body mount.

When I rebuild my air compressor I also want to replace this filter - anyone done it on a RRS - I assume it is the same procedure and in the same place as the D3.

Ouch - just spotted the price of these fiters at around $250 - are there cheaper alternatives or rebuid kits? Why not just put a plastic $5 inline fuel filter on the end?

Not sure about the RRS side of things, but I highly recommend changing the filter out for the type I have fitted, as with all the dirt road driving I have done since, there is not a speck of dust behind the filter, but tonnes before the element - unlike my OE filter that had almost equal amounts of dust before and after the filter material.

Great tip thanks. So you mean compress the entire vent body at the four points by pushing on its outer edge in the right spots?
I have the same components as Justin ready to go, just need to release this thing to get at it.

Just got mine out to take a look. Was perfectly clean under the lower filter. When I went to wash the larger primary filter it just disintegrated in my hand. I've cut a new one out of a sponge.

Hi Scott, just pull firmly on one side at a time and it will release. Each clip is fairly shallow but does need a firm pull.
