Sockets made for impact drivers are six sided so that they fit the nuts perfectly to handle the impact forces. I have a set of these sockets from Repco and they are good substitutes for the Land Rover tyre wrench if you want to use a longer half inch drive handle and a socket. Never ever use a standard 12 point socket on these wheel nuts or they rapidly get out of shape.

Hi Guys in respect to the wheel nut steel caps has anyone had these as a cause of rattle on rough corrugated gravel roads?
    Regards,

Tyre shops, 12 point sockets, rattle guns.
    Nuff said.

Check out Roverlord on this forum. I haven't bought mine yet, but I note they are a lot cheaper than $35 a hit.

If your tyre shop is using regular sockets (12Point) then it's time to change tyre shops.
TBH I would be surprised if they are, very surprised! It was probably an inexperienced staff member using an imperial socket.

In short, yes, but only with the window down.
