    What a drive....

Just did a cannonball run... (You youngin's can look it up.)

Adelaide to Whyalla, stay overnight at Casa de Tombie

Whyalla to Nullarbor & return, overnight (what was left of it) at the above abode.

Whyalla to Adelaide on day 3.

    Fun trip facts:

    25 hours total driving time
17 hours Whyalla to Nullarbor & return (in one day)

Average trip speed was 98 km/h
Average fuel used was 9.l / 100 km
Total distance covered was 2274 km

The D4 handled it like a dream. We spent 7 hours driving in total darkness, behind the Fyrlyts.

We were tired, but not uncomfortable at all.

Only 1 skippy paced the car, and of course, that was in the last 70 kms.
Plenty of mice on the road, and lots that didn't make it to the other side.

And some of the biggest damn moths that I have ever seen.

Damn good trip. Great car & great company, and we just ate up the road.

Why? Well, I am glad you asked. (Kids, look that saying up too.. )

It would appear that someone with a D4 had fitted Goodyear Duramax tyres to his 19" rims. For some unknown to me reason, they had managed to stake 4 tyres, multiple times, thru the sidewall.

When they pulled into the Nullarbor Roadhouse, they were unable to remove the tyres from the rims, so the owner arranged for some new rims & tyres to be delivered. Once he had the new boots, he left the old ones behind, with the instructions to sell them, and donate the money to the RFDS.

So, some guy, BMKal, was given the task of finding out the price, when he just happened to be going past on his way home...

For the sum of $450, I have managed to get myself 4 x MY14 Discovery 19" rims, and some junk rubber. It was the rims I wanted, and they will be re-shod with new Duramax in time.

And yep, we would do it all again...
