Thanks Graeme, I feel so much better knowing I have got the right stuff. Now to just find the time to do the change and convince the wife I need an IID TOOL to reset the service reminder and have a play around with of course. But first I need to change the sump over on the transmission. Hopefully that won't be as hard as finding the correct oil was. I hear ZF sell them direct or A&B transmissions.
Mine doesn't show a service reminder and I can't see it in the CCF where I might have disabled it.
The gearbox plastic pan will either have to be cut into 2 to remove if the rear cross-member isn't removed. Also when I did mine the original screw threads were corroded which caused me to shear off one of the replacement shorter and weak stainless screws, which could have necessitated the removal of the gearbox if the screw had been under the front cross-member. The threads should have been cleaned with a tap before fitting the steel pan, not after a screw broke!
How many kms has the vehicle done? My gearbox failed shortly after the oil change due to a known fault of worn pump bushes which must have been aggravated by the new, uncontaminated oil. It was suggested that because of the known fault the oil should not have been changed which would have allowed perhaps another 50,000 kms out of the box. The only positive outcome was that ZF rebuilt the gearbox to the current level including an updated torque converter whereby it now hangs onto higher gears under some load rather than dropping a gear and needlessly revving the engine, particularly noticeable when cresting hills and rounding slow street corners.
85,000 and log booked serviced up till now. What is the "known fault" with them if you don't mind?
ZF fitted white-metal bushes for the pump to run on to 6HP gearboxes that appeared in many brands of vehicle from early 2008 until 2011/12, including LRs, Fords, BMWs etc. The bushes don't last as they should but because a lot of boxes fail due valves getting blocked from clutch material deterioration first, the worn bush fault doesn't show-up as much as it otherwise would. ZF eventually overcame the engineering deficiency so with my box now at the latest production parts level it will not fail again from this fault. I'm told that some gearbox specialists wont touch these boxes because they are known to fail as soon as the oil is changed. The worn bushes prevent full pressure from being available so clutch E starts to slip.

Hmmm I'm hoping 85,000 isn't to late to try and stop anything from happening, I don't need the cost of a transmission rebuild on a car I haven't had yet for a month. Being in Tasmania we are limited to the amount of people that can actually do anything on these vehicles. Might need to wait till I can get down to see Justin Cooper at Kingston for his opinion.

I'm assuming you have a 2.7 going by the wheels you have listed in your signature, maybe I'm wrong. Does this mean you have the ZF6HP26 gearbox, I was of the understanding the 3.0 came with the ZF6HP28 and if so what is the difference between the 2?
Mine is a 3.0 with the 6HP28X. The 6HP26X and the up-rated 6HP28X have the same pump. The factory big brake option is currently removed.
Note that there are many different versions of both the 26 and 28 and that the 3.0's 28X is not the same as the V8's 28X.
