Bugger Kaymar, flaps are way to short, bracket mounting holes are way out and if you were to use the Kaymar mud flaps, there gaps between bracket and body and it does not align with the plastics.
Further more, the brackets protrude to far inside and they hit the exhaust at each end on my MY 2012 D4.
So I managed to re-drill the holes with sufficient meat left and made a pair of mud flaps using conveyer belt rubber, thanks to my brother.
The whole assembly took 10 hours to get fitted, I still have to shorten the inside to stop any possibility for the exhaust to hit it.
I am guessing that Kaymar may have shipped incorrect assembly to suit 2012 model.

Gerald
I really can'tsee how they look in that photo, but I'm pretty sure all the Kaymar bars are the same right through the range from the D3 on, my rear bar had D3 written on it.
Here's a side on view, with my bracket that I made, any chance you can do another pic from side on.

BTW your photo is upside down, I saved it and flipped it to get a better look at it.
Baz.
Hi All,
At least with my brackets, Kaymar confirmed they stuffed up, and the excuse is the mounting bracket was welded flipped 180 degrees reversed.
I may now be eligible for new brackets.
The implementation of the mud flap and the gap it left was an oversight, so I made my own. Although not complete, below are some shots.

Hi Baz,
Hold-off, I am talking to Kaymar now. Just sent them a bunch of photos and gave them a de-brief on my issue.
I may even take a trip and let them have a look first hand. Feedback to Kaymar......
What I found yesterday:-
Brackets mounting holes did not align with theexisting Kaymar Bar I purchased in 2012.
- The gap between the bracket upper curve where itmeets the plastic guard extender is substantial even with the standard rubberflap provided.
- The bracket and the mud flap face is recessedback by at least 5 mm, thus a larger mud flat that uses the upper mountingscrew in the plastics and lower mounting screws is not a smooth arch.
- The current bracket inner most extreme and it'sposition nearly touches both exhausts, it could do with at least a 5-10 mm trimon the inside. I had to alter my exhaust system to stop a constant rattle, notgood.
- The bottom single hole has no purpose, as thereis no mounting mate?
- I have also replaced your bolts with SS boltswashers and nylock nuts and used anti-seize/thread lubricant anti gauss.
- The 4 black bolt, washers and nuts that hold themud flap to the main bracket via the bracing bracket in my view haveinsufficient threat length.
Anyway, the rubber flaps are to short in my view, I am trying to stop 99% of all rocks. I have some serious camper damage although I have a stone stomper fitted. The OEM D4 plastic flaps does nothing and the mounting of the Stone Stomper cross-member fitted to a Mitch Hitch needs work.
Anyway, I ended up fabricating bigger wider mud flaps for my new 18" rims from Gordon and BFG KO2 265/65R18.
Back to the drawing board for Kaymar.
I must say, there response and phone call follow-up is excellent. I would give Kaymar 9/10 for good service.

Gerald
I've just purchased a Stone Stomper, haven't used it in anger yet, but Chris supplied me with a purpose built connection for the Mitch Hitch. I can't see how it could be done any better.
If yours is one of the standard ones on his web site, I'd suggest you give him a call and get one of his 'special' ones.

Trevor
Bit of a hijack but I'm in exactly the same position as Trevor and would agree regarding fitment to Mitch Hitch being very good. So Gerald, I'd also like to understand your issue with Stone Stomper better, noting that I've got OEM plastic flaps so am intending to rely on the Stone Stomper.
Cheers,
Scott
Hi Trevor,
Drop me a PM with your contact details, I can send you a PDF document and the feedback I provided Christian.
Basically, the Stone stomper on my D4 with Kaymar rear bar and Mitch Hitch did nothing. I had a shattered rear windscreen, excessive stone damage on the X20 Ultimate and a large deposit of stones resting on top of the stomper mat.
In my view Christian did not provide enough measurement guidance, my whole setup should have been at minimum 50mm wider than the Camper's widest point.
I am about to get a guy to add at least 75mm down the centre, I will have to widen the cross bar myself, Christian was not helpful.
Furthermore, the SS cross-bracket and mounting plate through the lower gap of the Mitch Hitch stopped me from running rated shackles. The SS cross-bar had it's mounting holes positioned wrong. I ended up making a better plate with the holes offset to allow rated 2 ton shackles.
Again, I did a bit of a write up on that.

Stone Stomper cross bar and Mitch Hitch fitment issue.
I am not casting dispersions on the viability of the SS. I am sure it works very well, however some fine tuning is needed and a better consultative approach for measurement would be beneficial
The mounting of the cross-bar may have been resolved by Christian now.
I ended up building a new bracket that is integrates with the Mitch Hitch and is a permanent fit, thus the SS cross-bar is very easy to remove with enough clearance for heavy rated shackles.
Some states may soon be enforcing rated shackles.
Back to the OEM plastic mud flaps, Kaymar rear bar and SS. the fitment of the collective above leaves a gap between the SS cross-bar and the Kaymar bar, a perfect window for stones to fly through, a sign of cross-bar damage due to poor mud flap length, width and the SS not being wide enough to deflect rocks down from the edge/extreme of the tyre track.
The total damage was caused on the Strzelecki track in April after it was re-surfaced March.
