Uncommanded opening of windows when parked/locked.

Over the last three days and about a month ago, I parked and locked the D4 (MY12), next morning when I come outside I find the car still locked but all windows open.

My dealer tells me that I must be using the open window command on my remote, but I deny this action and why has it only started happening now when the car is 3 years old?

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Any ideas about the cause?

I wonder if my next door neighbour's car remote is commanding my car to open the windows?

Of no help with the behaviour but doesn't the open-all-windows only work after unlocking the car by holding down the unlock button?

Don't know, never tried, but it shouldn't do that overnight when the remote is 20 metres away in the kitchen.

Not only is it a security risk but a water damage risk.

We have had a client do exactly what was described to you Lots-a-Landies!
It may not help your situation, but the client purchased a new handbag. Every night after the new handbag was purchased, said client would lock vehicle place key in handbag & walk away. Put handbag in house study & off to do whatever was needed. Next morning out to vehicle to find all windows opened

Worked out that the new handbag had a hidden pen inside & when dropping the key into the handbag the key would sit in a corner & the pen would push against the remote & during its night time open all the windows.

The remote does work from a fair distance, so it "may" be a cause, but i doubt it.

I would gather there is a short in the wiring somewhere & first place to check would be drivers door harness & its travel that goes from the door into the bottom of the A pillar. Tech's should find it & if in warranty get it done before the warranty expires.

    Cheers & Good Luck.

p.s. Havent purchased a new handbag lately have you??

Perhaps the issue is with the key. You could eliminate or confirm it as the cause by removing the battery from your usual key and using the other for a while (and visa versa).

I swapped keys yesterday morning. Last night I parked down the drive instead of at the gate (in case the windows do open) and this morning the windows were up.

I'll keep it in the side drive for a few nights before I risk parking at the gate if it is the neighbours car remote.

Our windows down only work if you unlock the car and hold the button down, same goes for up, button needs to be held down.

So I would think it's a fault somewhere in the wiring or the fob, as a side note, a similar thing happened to us, but we had a Ford Falcon Futurer Wagon at the time, the car would unlock itself overnight, turned out to be faulty door lock actuators.

It's funny we got the same blurb from them "yeah ya must unlocking it yourself"
    Cheers Baz.

Handbag!... I'll tell Bob you're questioning his compass..
Is the 'open all windows' a programable action on the fob?
If so, try resetting it to headlights or alarm... at least you'll know if it's the fob then..
My fob works from about 50m away... so 20m is easily possible.

When unlocking the vehicle push "& Hold" the unlock button & after 2-3 seconds all windows will drop. Keep holding & the windows will drop all the way down.
As soon as you release the button the windows will stop.
    Called Global Opening.
Good on a hot day, when approaching vehicle. Unlock & hold to vent all the hot air from the vehicle.

    Cheers
