Nicky, you won't have to. Andrew is offering the adapter for the top of the jack to make it fit the chassis rail in a similar fashion to the OEM scissor jack. He's proposing to make up a bunch of adapters, not supply the jack itself.

Reach. The 6t offers a minimum that's low enough and a maximum that's high enough. The other jacks do not.Have a look at the other thread by BSM. There's a link to it earlier in this thread, noting that you'd need to buy the jack yourself if this idea works out. EDIT; link added here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...ion-sorts.html

    Hope that clarifies.

    Hi All,

This may be a silly question, the jack minimum reach is that based on a flat tyre including the adapter?

I see the jack serving 2 purposes for me, possibly others, changing from normal on-road 19" with GG to better off-road tyres/rims 18" and taller profiles and the repair of a flat on either!

The OEM jack as I recall is about 70-80mm when fully collapsed?

    Regards

    Gerald

    Gerald,

This is the other thread that may help answer re jack suitability. There could be an issue with the jack at its minimum with an adapter put on top of it but there's ways around that.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...ion-sorts.html

This thread helps explain situation and options quite well.

Whatever happens, I'll be keeping the OEM scissor jack in the vehicle anyway as a last resort, if it's down on the bump stops or if the bottle jack can't quite fit for some reason (eg uneven ground?). The scissor jack could be used to get just enough height for the bottle jack if it turns out to be slightly too tall.

Regarding changing wheels over from 19 to 18, this would usually be at home on a nice flat surface. In which case a trolley jack would be the best bet I think.

Or use the vehicle's suspension if you're at home to lift wheels for you. See link to Disco3 on 2nd page of the thread I've linked above (link copied here too) for an explanation.

    Hope that helps,

I don't know anything about the seller at all and I am not recommending them they just popped up in the search. Just posted this for info about possible collection method using Ebay if you're having trouble finding a local dealer. I've heard of this pickup option but not seen or used it.

Would the existing top of the jack screw off and the adapter replace it or would the adapter sit on top and if so, how would it stay in place? Sorry but I don't know much about these things and would like to understand how it would work.

Until I get the jack, and trick my boy into visiting(he lives in the city) I cant say.Im hoping the exsisting top is held on by a circlip or similar and hoping the boy can copy it on his D4 adapter. He is killing Engineering at UWA and is VERY handy with his lathe

The 6t is on special(until sunday),I dont believe others in the range are.I dont think its much heavier than the alternative jacks others have bought.

Im hoping it will fit and secure to the jack in the same way the original is fitted to the jack.I mentioned my adapter will only fit the jack I buy, chances are it may fit yours, even if you need to weld it.I dont want to make a weld on adapter,I would prefer the adapter turned like they are designed to.
Im picking my jack up tommorow, will know better then.
