Ordered a Mitch Hitch today.

Anyone considered fitting something like this to provide less of an impact to knees when not towing. Many variants out there for hitches and tongues. Most extend the obstruction out even further though, but could possibly be modified. Maybe Mitchell Bros could come up with their own design? Or maybe I will when I get their hitch!

Taking the tongue out and then hitting the hitch means you are essentially walking too close to the vehicle and risking damage to paint etc anyway...

Never understood why people walk so close to the damn cars in the car parks etc..

And to quantify - years ago I ran between to vehicles parked at night...

I still have the dent in the bone... I went arse over tit at about 15 km/h into a roadway...

Even the memory of the pain send shivers down my spine...

Just thinking about it sends shivers down mine, but also makes me laugh at the same time :)

Damn tow hitch usually sknarks the knee or shin bone when the car is parked in the garage and I just wanna sneak around the back while the garage door is shut.
Always ends in blood and tears and bad words.

Something like that would be quite handy if one had a roof rack.
Never seen them before.

It is for this reason I won't leave an unused tow hitch left in either Disco. Too dangerous and only a matter of time before it will lead to victims wanting compensation.

I suspect this is why the D3/D4 has such a strange design....to avoid litigation in the US market.

Also against the Road Traffic Act...

There are fines and points for leaving it in and not in use.

Saving him a fine might be my excuse if the neighbour keeps parking the arse of his navara over the footpath outside our house and I'm obliged to help myself to the tongue...

Is that the SA Road Traffic Act?

Other states may be the same but I do not believe there is anything in the NT Traffic Act that says they have to be removed.
