Wiper Blade Replacement

When you put it on, give the windscreen 2 coats before buffing / polishing. Each bottle should give you enough to do the front windscreen with 2 coats, plus a single coat on the rear windscreen. (I used a couple of bottles and did all the glass, including side windows and mirrors).

Also, wear surgical gloves or similar when applying the stuff - it stings if it gets into your skin, especially if you have any nicks or scratches (like I had from playing with the neighbour's Boxer pups). :D

And don't rub your eyes while using this stuff whatever you do .................. :eek:

If i have any left after the front and rear from a bottle i will do the mirrors - good idea.

All probably the same stuff.
I've been using RainX on the shower screen and tiles in the bathrooms - keeps the soap scum to a minimum.
Thinking about using it on the basins as well as toilet bowls - hoping maybe the **** won't stick...

I've found that giving it two coats provides a better coverage and better long term protection on the front windscreen. Used to do the same with RainX. ;)

Mirrors only require a very quick wipe with the application cloth moistened with the product.

Don't use on headlights though - I wouldn't risk putting the solvent that is in this product on a polycarbonate lens (same for RainX - I never put this on my lights either).

The product for auto windscreens is quite probably the same as the product for bathroom shower and tiles. Simple way for them to make a quick profit if you look at the cost of a 12ml bottle for the car vs the cost of the larger bottle for the bathroom. ;)

I used to use RainX in the bathroom of the apartment I had down in Perth, which had a lot of glass (large shower enclosure and mirror). I found that the shower screen treated with RainX actually stayed cleaner after daily use than does the new bathroom we have at home treated with Nanocote - but the RainX does not last anywhere as long as the Nanocote treatment. I used to re-apply the RainX at least once every 2 or 3 months, whereas the Nanocote is claimed to last up to 5 years (we've only had it on for about 6 months so far, so I can't comment on the accuracy of their claim for a while yet).

The bathroom glass does get a bit dirtier with the Nanocote treatment on a daily basis than did RainX treated glass - but it is very easy to clean. My impression is that, in the longer term, Nanocote will be cheaper option than regular applications of RainX - and less work. That's certainly what we're seeing so far.

Haven't thought of trying either product in the dunny bowl. I think the design / shape of the bowl has a lot to do with how clean they stay. The one I had down in Perth was a poor design, and regularly displayed skid marks (as does the one out on the back verandah behind the house up here). The two in the bathrooms inside the house are a different design pan (and cost a lot more) - and the design of these is such that the **** lands in the water and rarely leaves any unwanted marking on the sides of the bowl - I have learnt not to buy cheap dunny bowls (or cisterns) from places like Bunnings - far better to pay the extra and buy from a decent supplier like Reece or similar.

Just beware, I have heard from two work mates who experienced this first hand, that any little cracks cannot be repaired, as the product they use to repair windscreens will not adhere after you have used Rain-X.

Fitted a set of Bosch 550 replacement wiper blades today.

Very Happy

Got them from Sparesbox who were competitive with quick delivery.

Got some Glym windscreen additive which then qualified me for free delivery.

Disappointed OEM's did not last two years.

Had Bosch wiper blades. Lasted less than 12 months.
I have now gone back to Wipertech across the whole fleet - D4 and 2 Hondas.
Reasonably priced, happy with the quality, and delivered to the door.
