Similar story for me: I needed a name for a mobile base call sign whilst flying gliders on safari (SWMBO in white Disco with van in tow, yours truly in the air), so she became "Kelvinator Base"...! Gotta laugh.

On my 2nd D4, best vehicle I have ever owned.

Major. But usually it just gets referred to as "the Disco". I know: original.

    The D4 is "Mine".
SWMBO's new Honda HRV is the "Hormone Replacement Vehicle"

I needed a call sign at a mining job recently. Thought "LRD1" was logical

Previous owner called mine 'Lizzy' but that name didn't make the transfer. The kids (5 and 6 yo) call the Disco 'Zoom' and my wife's Megane RS 'Zoom Zoom'. I wonder what they might call a car that actually goes really fast.....

My Jeep driving step father read an article that used the 'pope mobile' name and thought it was just hilarious, so much so he highlighted it and posted it to me. Though, I've recently had the last laugh with his Jeep (Commander- such an ascetically pleasing car.....) needing three trips to mechanics on a round trip to Geelong from the Gold Coast.

I have adopted a simple system.

Currently on R3D4, being my 3rd Landrover which happens to be a D4.
Previously I had R2D3, which should be obvious.

We've gone highly original for a Land Rover, being our first one it's called "Landy".

Ours has been given two names.

Diva as in Disco Diva from the aforementioned movies and the fact that it is just a little bit posh

Tardis. For the way it eats distance in comfort and silence making any long or short drive utterly enjoyable. Just as long as I keep the cruise control on
