    D4 or Grand Cherokee?

Hi guys I'm looking at some advice on what vehicle I should look at . I have a budget of roughly 65k.
I use the car as a daily and also tow a 3t boat. I will also be using it for offroad ie high country and camping, plus am looking at doing a few desert trips this year .
Vehicles I'm considering are disco 4 with 3 lt engine, rrs with same engine or the v8 dies l, or a Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. The jeeps seems to be a lot cheaper and has more features . What do you guys think?
Is there two different 3 lt diesels in the disco?

Every one here will say buy the Disco and everyone on the Jeep forum will say the Jeep. Except some of the Jeep owners I know who won't tow with them now because they keep overheating.

    Disco

Hi there thanks for your reply.
Im also a bit confused with the differences of sd 3.0 and just 3.0 dies.
The specs show that the sdv6 has 600nm torque and twin turbo versus the single turbo and 520nm of torque.
Is th drivability really that different. Is it better to get a 8 speed tdv6 or earlier sdv6 with 6 speed

I wouldn't buy a jeep. Search for lemon laws in Queensland for why. Plus front suspension had design issues with creaking and other problems( the fix may be available by now?). And I reckon the D4 is reliable but complex.

For your use I wouldn't buy the Jeep, if only for the size of it. They look good on paper, but it's the only place they really compare to the D4, price, otherwise they are seriously outclassed.

8 speed SDV6 Discovery will be the best beast for the job, I'd say you'll also find an RRS to be too small and impractical, like the GC.

    Discovery or Jeep?
    Easy question to answer.
    ACCC investigates Jeep
    From the article:
No other carmaker is under investigation.
    https://www.choice.com.au/transport/...-owners-140915

I heard somewhere the ACCC said Chrysler were the most complained about cars in Australia.

Go the Jeep. Tell us of your experiences.
Or go the D4, Tell us of your trips.

    Disco

With a budget of 65k its hard to find a sdv6 with 8 speed and good kms.
I really don't want to buy one with over 70000 kms. The question of would you buy a 2013 model tdv6 with 50000 kms and 8 speed or would you buy a 2010 with 6 speed and sdv6

I have the 2014TDV6,its the lower output 3.0lt V6,it is only a tuning difference,it still has the twin sequential turbo of the SD V6.
Drive both the gearbox types, you will buy the 8 speed, its a great gearbox. There is no shortage of grunt in the 3.0L TDV6,if you want more there are tuning kits that can push the numbers right up.
