Unless things have changed a lot I wouldn't bother with the land rover navigation system, on my 2011 d4 the navigation doesn't show roads that were completed in 2007.

Not to mention that it nearly always takes you the long way around and costs a fortune to get out of date updates. The other annoying thing is that it doesn't show side street names in most cases, even when zoomed all the way in.

My in built Nav seems to work better than what you describe & you can buy latest Qtr map update online & install via usb - so they may have changed the setup in later models. Map update is expensive though

Correct - the 2009-11 models (discussed here) had a hdd for navigation maps - and had to be plugged into LR machine to be updated.

Yeah that sucks. The best part about our nav is the mild amusement of watching it freak out as you drive on non-existent freeways and bypasses, and 'racing' it against google maps.

Jonesy, you don't happen to know if it can be updated via a nanocom?

Meken is your 2011 D4 an MY12 update model perchance?

My MY13 can also be updated via USB, and you can also add POI (such as safety cameras).

Surprisingly had quite a few dirt tracks as well (Bendethera was well mapped).

What's your build date? Mine is September but I don't recall seeing that in the manual. Where did you get the updates?

Mine is Jan build; can't recall who does the Australian maps for LR, but they have a specific landing page to buy the LR map update. From memory, there has only been one update when I checked last year, so have not bothered.

As for POI, just get the POIs and upload via USB.
