Cooper stories are either for or against. I'm not convinced to try them.

Nope, not bad luck.


Wranglers are pretty quiet, pretty grippy wet and dry but are a bit wobbly .... which you won't notice until you buy another tyre. All in all not a bad tyre? .....


Except they are $500 a pop and are as soft as butter once they wear. I went through 3 in a week in my old D4 at about 40,000 Klms wear .... all straight through the tread block. Unbelievable .... stones pushed straight through the tread block on nothing more than Forestry Roads when away camping.


D4 number 2 has had 2 punctures on the road at 27,000ks.


I run a set of 285/60/18s when I go camping now. Touch wood ... not even a mark.

Lol.. nope, Freelander.

The group was 2 Defenders, a Freelander, a D1 and 2 D4's ;)

It was on a little wander up to see the view near Melrose last year, not particularly difficult, just a few quite steep bits and lots and lots of sharp rock everywhere.

Good to hear others successes, failures and concerns, I posted this as my experience for any one considering a purchase. For the record....the first was front left, second rear left with Trailer, and 3rd front right with trailer.

Between the second and 3rd tear I did do an outback NSW, QLD trip to Bourke, Hungerford, Thargomindah with a station stay and day trip around the property....no issues on the gravel roads. Not unit I get to the slightly more challenging trails that I've had problems (Still well in the realms of an AT tyre's performance).

Ron - if I'd simply had punctures I'd be happy...can plug them up and repair...it's....emotional :mad: to see a tyre with 25% wear as a throw away with a sidewall tear. Interesting to hear Mark had a sidewall failure also.

Eddy - I'd be careful with your tyre pressures, my recommendation is to keep them high (36 to 40 psi) in any sort of rocky environment and hope for the best:-)

From the info here, I'll also have a good look at the Duratrac if it has a better protected sidewall.
