Powerfold mirrors are no big deal to retrofit. Well much simpler/cheaper than the E-Diff...
If you find one that ticks all boxes but doesn't have DAB, that's no drama to retrofit either.
TDV6 can be re-flashed with the factory SDV6 tune, also not much of a drama.
I was away over the Aust Day weekend in the high country and did some really steep hills, the D2 just on traction control did really well, the 2.7D4 that was with us did it obviously easier (no rear diff) and I'm most likely not to do much harder than what we did then. It's most likely if I did get the diff then it may only get use once a year??!! I wish there was only the one available with those options and the diff lol
I vote for the vehicle with the ediff. I have electric folding mirrors on the RRV. I don't use the folding function.
Gordon teaches us to fold our mirrors in on tight tracks so I occasionally do that when the scratching gets really bad. The main use I have for the electric mirrors is to confirm that I have locked the car!

I am more of a tourer that likes to get in to the mountains occasionally and came out of a Pajero that had the factory diff lock option and traction control. In nearly 7 years, I used the diff lock twice. Once for real and once to make sure it works.
These are a few things I learned during my research.
- In Aus, dealers tend to order the TDV6 optioned with xenon lights, tech pack, rear air and leather seats. This makes them close to the SDV6 SE, there are a few differences. I found that I got the SDV6 for only a bit more than a TDV6 so the mirrors etc are basically free.
- E-diff is not a very popular option any more. Car is so good without it. I would have liked one, but after never using it in my previous car, it faded as a "nice to have". Traction control is so good, that in most cases it makes an ediff redundant. (Not arguing the academic, just the practical side)
- Rear air is valuable, don't underestimate it. Much better resale (if that matters) and it DOES cool the car faster. I started a whole thread on it and the guys saying "get it" were right. Make it a must have.
- Leather electric seats I think are a must have. They are better and have lumber support.
- Tech pack (GPS, front sensors, Meridian sound, reversing camera) is basically a must have and you probably won't find a recent D4 without one. If you do, don't buy it !!
- DAB radio, I'm not sure it is worth anything at all. DAB has been a dud in Australia and I tend to stream from my phone when I want selective radio. I do this for the AFL and the cricket as well as music.
Just go find a car and lock it in. I should have bought one years ago, these things are just so nice you don't want to get out of them.

The only DIFFrence with the factory E-Diff to others Smocky is you cant choose to use it,its controlled by the terrain response system.
It has stronger axles and bearings so worth choosing if you intend towing.Its the 1 option I wanted,nothing available on the sales campaign when I bought mine unfortunately(dealer stock only)

I will also add.I dont have rear air.This is the best aircon I have ever had in any vehicle Ive owned/driven/ridden in.I also have never turned it off;);););),just select the temps.The system runs all the time anyway so one may as well just use it.

I'm thinking I may go the one with the blind spot monitoring as my wife will drive this as well. I do a little towing for work but nothing too serious and it's mainly touring rather than really rough stuff.
I'm speaking with another dealer on the weekend to see what they have and see if I can get an SE for my budget but I'm not holding my breath lol
Since they are pretty much on permanent runout and always seem to have bonuses attached, I may ask and see about ordering one and when it arrives there should hopefully be a bonus on that. I previously sold cars for 10 years so I have a bit of an idea how the factory bonuses work.
Anyway I will go on the weekend and check out the seating and see how comfy the seats are between the 2. I am 6'2 but have a short body and lanky legs so the elect seats for me would be awesome. I find the extra adjustment under the thighs more comfortable but I guess you do get used to them after a while. When I went from D1 to D2, I thought the seats were better in the 1, but now love the D2 seats[emoji15]

The D4 e-diff operation is automatic and comes in according to the traction situation. The screen has 4x4 display which will show the unlocked/locked status. The driver has no control over selection.Quote:
