 The responses are talking about replacing the wiper blades - however I think you are talking about removing the wiper arm not the blades (wiper arms do not need removing to replace the plates).
No special tools are needed to remove the wiper arm - just remove the retaining nut and very carefully pull on the wiper around the shaft - you need to pull it square or it can jam.  But go carefully.
