You are probably right about my bout of paranoia again. Just not used to it as I have been able to leave my wife's car for long periods without a problem. But her car does not have the warning message feature.

The batteries are just over two years old - new with the car. The Optima aux battery closer to 2 years than the main.

I have a bit better understanding, maybe , of how your gear hangs together, so reckon there is a fair amount of protection there.

I think I will just go and worry about something else now :). (to much time on my hands I think).

Hi again Richard, and I wouldn't call it being paranoid.

You have a warning message being displayed and it is doing so for a reason.

But the message is displayed way before there is actually going to be a problem.

So as long as you know why the message is being displayed, in this case because your D4 had been sitting unused for some time, than all is good.

If you go camping for a few days and then go to start your D4 and get that message, again, you would know the reason for it being displayed.

But if you had used the D4 the day before and then get the warning message the next morning, in this case, there may well be something that needs your immediate attention.

So again, it's not being paranoid, just need to know when such messages are an indication of a problem or are just the result of use or in this case caused by not using your D4.

I wouldn't assume the cranking battery is ok just cos it's only a bit over two years since you bought the car...
