I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself. After following some internet advice I stripped the motor housing and gearbox apart. Cleaned them all out, sprayed electrics with insulating varnish and greased the gears. Gave the whole show a good fix of inox and almost got it all back together. Just tested the motor with jumper leads and working a treat. Sounds great too.
$17 for some electric spray and new nuts = working winch again.
Priceless advice from on here too. Thanks all.
