    GT, Faults and reduced performance

Hi all, well I experienced my first engine fault the otherday, resulted in reduced performance mode, unfortunately it occurred while onthe wrong side of the road overtaking a B-Double. No harm done I hadaccelerated up to the overtaking speed I wanted, but disconcerting none theless.
So, plug in the IIDtool, recover the fault code and look ata few engine parameters. I did not have the list of codes with me at the timeso P2082-00 did not mean much to me.
Looking at Exhaust Gas Temps I saw EGT ? Bank1 - Sensor1 at120 deg and Bank2 - Sensor1 at 390 to 400 deg. From this I reasoned that theremay be an error with the Bank1 - Sensor1, I had been accelerating briskly beforehandand would have thought the secondary turbo would be operational and hence thefault. I was surprised when I got homeand looked up the code and found it was a Bank2 - Sensor1 fault.
I did a bit of further investigation recording EGT's for bothsensors doing WOT acceleration. I certainly got Bank1 - Sensor1 to respond, maxtemp 230 for a very short period of time and Bank2 - Sensor1 to 290 at aboutthe same point, but not the 400 I saw earlier. Also noticed how quickly theycool down so I can now see that the original 120 on Bank1 - Sensor1 was OK.
So, the short question is can anyone tell me the expectedrange of EGT on Bank2 - Sensor1, what temp it would reach to cause the faultsignal.
    Thanks

    Hi Peter,
Did you get to the bottom of this?
I have a 2013 D4 3.0 SDV6 and I occassionally get the P2082 error when towing my 3.1 Tonne caravan up hills. I don't have a GAP IID tool and the Nanocom and Torque Pro don't show me the EGTs.

So I'm wondering if it's a faulty sensor, or just the result of the RooSystems ReMap under heavy load.

    Cheers,
    Greg

Others have had issues with the remap, the BAS one is the go.

JC on here has seen manifolds cracked on 3.0L using their tunes, so something is not quite right.

They have also fallen well out of favour on some of the JAp vehicle forums.

Hi Greg, sorry for the delay in responding, it's been 4 years since that post so I really had to find the brain archive button, anyhow, if I recall correctly I looked at EGT's intently for quite a while, even did readings (recorded with GAP tool) towing the similar size van towards Murray Bridge from Adelaide through the hills on the south eastern freeway. I did all sorts of things to prompt another hissy fit, wot acceleration runs, slow accelerator pedal application, slam it to the firewall, wot-closed-wot with varying speed of pedal application and other things I can't remember and all with the van attached. Never caused a second occurrence, still haven't had it happen again. Sleeping dogs is my current strategy. I will have a look for the data in the next day or so and post again if I can find it, unfortunately I just don't recall the EGT I recorded. I had a HDD in my NAS crack up recently and lost a lot of stuff and I think all my data recordings of all sorts of playing around was lost. ( I was looking for an emoji of someone shooting themselves in the foot but no luck)
Hopefully you can sort it out.

    Some Data

Hi Greg, as I mentioned in my last post I was trying to get the car to reproduce the fault, and as I mentioned I was pushing things a bit, here is an example of the data on what I described as a "MAx Torque Run" but not sure of other conditions.

    Engine RPM - 3140
    Vehicle Speed - 105
    Calculated Load - 99.59
    EGT Bank 1 - 560
    EGT Bank 2 - 610
    MAP - 270
    Engine Torque - 508
    Gear commanded - 5

    And........no faults

Not sure if this helps, but I remember finding the EGT interesting and I guess I answered my own original question.

    Peter
