    What's under here?

Planning on installing our HF Radio head unit on the left hand side of the Transmission lever above the Cig lighter etc as per the attached pics.
Does anybody know what (if anything) is under this area that I should be careful of when drilling screw holes etc.

Yeah there's all sorts of bits under there. Easy enough to get that section off. Lift out the rubber cup holders then pull up the liner, it's held in by four clips from memory. Under there is a spill try held down by two screws, remover these. Switch off the engine with the shifter in Netural, you'll get a warning message but that's fine. Now bravely with a sharp tug pull up the top section of the shifter. At the console box end with your hands in the cupholder hole pull up the rear of the section that we are trying to remove, this can be a little stiff but there are only two clips that keep it in place. Once you've gotten that loose slowly lift the rear up until you clear the shifter and it comes out from under the dash end. Now you can sort out where to put those screws and wire runs if needed.

Look into making a bracket that is retained by the seat runner bolt, simply add a longer bolt.I tried that for a tablet mount, wich was a cheap chinese unit and was a failure as I couldnt keep enough viagra up to it,it kept flopping around
A flat peice of steel fixed the same way would hold that head unit easy peasy
