Water outlet assembly replacement 2.7 D3
Hi Guys, On the weekend I decided to replace my water oulet assembly as the D3 is getting to near 100,000klms and didnt want it to let go like in my old D3 and to check and clean the Electronic throttle body as when I just recently replaced my MAP sensor which was completely blocked. When I removed the throttle body the y section past where the EGR pipes come in had a massive build up of sludge probably more than 2mm thick which has reduced the openings by over 4mm in diameter. I washed all parts and changed the water outlet assembly which didnt show any signs of leaking so this has been saved for when travelling as a spare part. Put car back together and took it for a drive. Wow the difference it made was outstanding just like driving a new car very responsive and a lot more go. I am not sure why there was so much build up my last D3 didnt have that much with more klms on it maybe might have something to do with the MAP sensor being blocked. Anyway I recommend that the MAP sensor be cleaned and if there is any build on it to clean the Electronic throttle body you will be amazed by the results.

Yes all modern common rail turbo diesels suffer this tar build up, it add to the blowing black smoke that is oh so common on vehicles now, doing a EGR blank or emulate will solve this and the black smoke will also disappear.
