    Cost of 65,000km service

    Hi
I am just recovering from paying for my 65,000 service on my MY14 D4 at the local LR dealer. This is not a major service but a mid one.

I got the service to mainly get the oil changed and have my tyres(x6) rotated.

The service was called the $65,000/30 month arduous service as per handbook.

Is there something special about this service as it cost $835 all up. This included $80 to rotate the tyres, no alignment done.

To make matters worse I don't believe they adjusted my tyre pressures as the backs are lower than the front at the moment. I will have to recheck that in the morning.

    So overall not entirely happy.

    Hi Richard.
That would be typical of LR stealerships.
$80 to rotate the wheels is $30 more than a certain stealership in Brisbane charged me for a 6 wheel rotation and the thieves didn't actually rotate anything. I now rotate them myself - at least I know it's done the way I want.

BTW, how are the Hankooks going?

The hankooks are going ok, seem to be wearing well.

I have not had the chance to go offroad but have been doing a fair amount of towing.

They do bulge a bit which may be a bit of a concern when I do hit the dirt with my van.

I am still trying to find the best tyre pressure, while towing, but not getting to paranoid about it.

I guess by them not changing the pressures has allowed me to verify they did rotate them 😁

Trouble is my two spares tyre pressures were low and I will have to pump them up tomorrow.

Time to look else where, does any one have one in Canberra.

I go up to Brisbane a bit and have had a couple of services done by MR motors.

At 65k i would be servicing the transmission too. Especially if towing a lot.

MR has a good reputation with most Aulroians.

FWIW, I use slightly different valve caps to differentiate front vs rear vs spare wheels.

Also, my experience for servicing at Pacific LR on the Sunshine Coast has so far been ok. Have some warranty issues coming up, so that will be the acid test, I guess.

    Good idea.

I did write a number on the rims, but they got rubbed off

I was going to put stickers on them but ran out of time.

The caps are a good idea.

A couple of dots with a paint pen and pics to prove may be needed if one is spending that sort of coin and not getting the job done.
    Wouldnt hurt marking filters too.

On my first service I was charged for a sump plug and washer, less than $10.
I thought they sucked the oil out of these motors
Do they fill them via the sump plug

Justin, for the 8 speed, a complete flush and filter change or just drain and refill (ie partial flush)?

    Cheers,
