I had an issue with my D3 bonnet switch and didn't have the error message on the dash. Did the paper clip trick (with a piece of wire) 18 months later and it hasn't gone off again.

Hmm,mine once went off in the D2, at 2.00am in the morning at the Mt Dare campsite.

Lots of F words and a heap of very very unhappy campers.

It was a large moth flying around in the car that caused the issue.

As Sheerluck said, with the right tool you can detect what is triggering the alarm.

One of my door catches was replaced under warranty as it set it off a couple of times.

I did the paper clip, covered it with a latex glove finger and gaffer tape about 3 years ago. No alarm issues since.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same issues with my RRS and the dash screen reads bonnet open. Can someone tell me where the bonnet sensor is and which plug needs to be shorted. Pictures would be great.
    Thanks Andrew

Andrew, it's pretty easy to get at - Remove the grille for better access. The sensor is underneath the left hand bonnet catch (as you are looking at it). You'll see a cable attached to the bottom of that left hand bonnet catch, unclip it. Push an unfolded paperclip, or a thinnish wire into both the two female cable connectors.

    Job done.

Apart from putting the grille back on.

I must have done it the hard way by not removing the grille. It's Under the drivers side bonnet latch is a plug with 2 wires going to it.

Took about 5 mins to do.

I wouldn't say it was the hard way Ean. You may well have added about 90 seconds to the whole process though.

I better not let the boss read that , she would add another 20 jobs to the list in that 90 seconds,

    Cheers Ean
