I had the 'Bonnet Open' alarm come up on the dash 3 times from the corrugations on the Plenty Highway.
Each time it was correct that the bonnet catch had come open but not fully released and you couldn't see any issue from inside.
So if the passenger side had opened I would not have known.
I wonder if there is an adjustment required. It seems to close as normal and only did it on the corrugations.

I had my alarm going off randomly a while ago. Bonnet sensor appeared to be the cause - in the end I had a bonnet open message when the engine was running and the horn gave a little beep everything I locked the doors. I simply removed the switch and shorted the wires together and no more issues now. Can't think of a good reason to bother with replacing the switch either

Thanks for all the replies, will short out the sensor and hopefully stop the annoying alarm going off for no reason.
Cheers Andrew
Damn, wish this had been posted week before last. Had the error message pop up from time to time, as well as the alarm sounding. Paid to replace the sensor (only comes with a latch apparently) at a cost of over $100 while in for a service. Paper clip would have been much cheaper.
Got the daily double as also need to replace brake switch as is causing "restricted performance" message to appear. No ill effects other than the message and the yellow triangle of annoyance. Just waiting for part to come in for third trip to dealer inside two weeks. Second trip was to pick up my new RRS (he says smugly).
