D4 where to mount Hema Navigator HN7

Hi Guys, after a bit of advice for best location to mount a Hema Navigator HN7 to the windscreen of my D4. To me the obvious place is between the instrument cluster and the drivers side roof pillar, but it does state that the devices should not be located near airbags.
I probably intend to leave the bracket/carrier fitted to the windscreen all the time but only have the device fitted when needed, and the rest of the time out of thief's eye site.

There's a thread on the Dash mount I used, and others. Better than on the glass.

I've found that the Kuda mount actually makes the dash, and more importantly the windscreen, much less cluttered - and I have both the Hema HN7 and my TPMS head unit hanging off the Kuda mount.

Previously both of these were mounted using suction cup mounts on the windscreen, and they both at least partially blocked the view through the windscreen. However, the biggest annoyance was when the suction cup mounts "let go" every so often, which they all do - and usually at the worst possible time. You can try as much as you like to get them to stick back on the glass, but unless you stop, go and get some window cleaner and clean & dry both the glass and the suction cup, they will never stick back on and just keep falling off.

Now, the only thing I have on the dash is the radar detector, which sits forward of the Kuda mount on the mesh speaker grille and does not block the view out of the windscreen at all (and is not held in position by any stupid bloody suction cup).

The Kuda mount is also a very handy thing for hiding the wiring to your accessories - I no longer have any wires / cables visible onto and over the dash running to accessories.

The only drawback I have found was that the HN7 struggled to connect with and hold satellites once I mounted it on the Kuda mount - presumably because the unit was now moved further back into the vehicle and satellite signal is more likely to be blocked by the roof of the vehicle. Easily fixed though by the addition of an after-market external GPS antenna. Since installing this, my HN7 now acquires and holds signal faster and more reliably / consistently than I have ever previously experienced (and I have had the HN7, a HN6 and a VMS GPS unit in the vehicle at various times).
    Cheers .........

Thanks BMKal - some really good info there - very helpful. I did have a quick look at the Kuda Mount on the website but it seems it only comes in black - which may not suite my beige dash/interior. Certainly though a good option to hide all the wires.

Have a chat with Aaron40. I think he might have been getting his stained / painted / colored somehow to suit his Arabica dash (I know the Kuda mount was originally black when I sent it to him). Haven't seen any pics of the finished product yet, or heard how it went though.
    Cheers .........

I'm weighing up whether it's worth buying one and getting it wrapped in almond leather or just make one from scratch
